Did you know? - January 2012

That while Richard Wade Martins (Elmham School 1979-82) is sitting at his lab. bench in Oxford leading a team searching for the causes and they hope, a cure, for Parkinson'sDisease,(http://opdc.medsci.ox.ac.uk) his brother Edward (Elmham School 1979-83) is cycling alone across Europe and west Africa to The Gambia to a school where he taught as a 19-year-old and with which he has kept in touch ever since. He had pedalled nearly 5,000kms so far from the Channel coast, has crossed the Atlas Mountains and now is entering the deserts of the western Sahara. By this carbon-neutral journey he is hoping to raise money for a Gambian educational charity, The Fresh Start Foundation.

For details of the charity and of the trip so far- with some tremendous photographs, see his blog: http://edcyclessouth.blogspot.com
