Jungle Drums....
Before the jungle drums get too loud we would like you all to know the following news:
Colin and Julie are leaving The Railway, when we find a suitable new tenant, hopefully in the next 4-5 months (ish). We will be very sad to leave the pub but intend to stay in the village (some you win, some you lose!!)
The pub has been a big commitment on our time more than anything else and we are looking forward to doing some normal 'stuff'', travelling, visiting and well, doing nothing for a while looks good!
We will miss all our friends and customers but hopefully you can all still shout abuse if you see us out and about.
With a few regrets and some great memories
Colin and Julie
Eds Note: Truly, an end of an era! Colin's family have been at The Railway for nearly half a century and we know how much he and Julie will be missed. Let's hope the village will be lucky enough to see new tenants who will be able to follow in their footsteps as though there has been no change whatsoever!
Happy retirement Colin and Julie.
3rd April saw Gerry and the Misfits (renegades from Back Pages) on stage at Tracks for an evening of more Rockabilly than the usual blues.Staring off with a couple of Dylan numbers (surprise) "Quinn the Eskimo" and "Down into the easy chair" they eased the room gently into the set.
It was then definitely a case of wake up the memory with Johnny Cash's "I taught the weeping willow how to cry" and Credence Clearwater Revivals "Bad Moon Rising" before progressing to Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" and Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues".
More nostalgia with Del Shannon's "My Little Runaway" before moving on to a trio of Elvis Presley numbers - "Teddy Bear", "All Shook Up" and "I need your love tonight" before finishing the first half with Hank Williams "Your Cheating Heart" and the Everly Brothers "Bye Bye Love"
