Posted in Parish Council Report

This is an independent report written by the temporary Dereham Times Correspondent, Meg White. The official minutes are issued by the Clerk, Kevin Webb after they have been approved at the following meeting. They can be seen in the Post Office and will soon be back on the website at

There were 3 members of the public present and Martin Phillips chaired the meeting.

Matters Arising

Land Matters

Millennium Wood

2 quotes had been received from contractors regarding the removal of trees affected by ash dieback. There followed much discussion and the subject would be revisited at the next meeting!>

Prince William Wood

Jimmy Brown asked what the Council were going to do about the trees here that have ash dieback. They will be dealt with at a later date.

Street Lights

A contract for maintenance had been signed with Westcotec of Dereham. Tom Fitzalan Howard has prepared a report which will be published in Elmham News.

Highway Matters

The question was raised as to who is responsible for

clearing leaves off pavements. Peter Wade Martins would enquire.

Pavilion and Playing Field

The volunteers had worked very hard to clear the site and remove the unnecessary fencing and old concrete. All that remains is the old circular climbing frame which cannot be reused by the Parish Council but can be offered to any member of the village who could use it. Contact Jimmy Brown. Turf and top soil are needed to complete the area.

Report from District Councillor

Gordon Bambridge pointed out that any surveys or questionnaires that had been carried out more than 2 years ago, were out of date and unable to be used in any arguments to the District Council.

He went on to explain that the Planning Consultation regarding future planning and boundaries to be carried out by Breckland would start in January 2016 and run for 6 weeks. There would be no extensions of time given so he recommended that the Parish Council met quite soon to determine how they were going to approach the consultation of parishioners and prepare a report before mid-February 2016.

It was agreed to hold an Open Meeting for all parishioners on Thursday 21 January 2016 to be held in the Memorial Institute at 7.30pm. Mr. Bambridge would be in attendance.
