The Eastgate Centre

p1122077In 1876 the Methodist chapel was built in Eastgate Street, and continued to be used for worship unit 1997 when the small congregation finally closed the doors.  After much fund raising the hall was bought and refurbished, opening for use in January 2000 as a meeting place for the Elmham Scouting and Guiding groups, and for other community use within the area to complement the facilities offered by the Institute and Sports pavilion. The Eastgate Centre was born!

The Centre has proved an ideal venue for the uniformed groups, who meet regularly each week, and others have used it from time to time.  But despite various efforts the heating has always

Good news - Oscar has been reunited with his owners.

The mystery has been solved, after weeks of no news it was discovered that he had been found by Christine and Barry of 35 Cathedral Drive who did their best to look after him (he kept coming through their catflap), although they were never able to actually catch him until now and having seen the article in Elmham News were able to return him to Jenny Cunningham - A good outcome and thanks to all involved

North Elmham Parish Council Meeting – January – 4.1.2011

The monthly Parish Council Meeting took place on 4th January in the Sports Pavilion with 3 parishioners attending and John Labouchere in the Chair.

For the second month running there were no items raised by the public in public participation.

Apologies were received from Bill Borrett.

Vacancy on Parish Council.

It was announced that there was only one name received, that of Merryn Walters, for the vacancy on the Parish Council caused by the resignation of Colin Groom, and after a unanimous vote she was duly co-opted to the Council.

There were no declarations of interest and the previous meeting minutes were accepted.

VILLAGE NOTICEBOARDS

There are 3 notice boards in the village, funded by Elmham News. They are sited at The Railway Hotel on the wall of Tracks, on the side of the bus shelter at the bottom of Orchard Close and on the side of the bus shelter on the Playing Field. They are locked for security. Anyone wanting to display a poster in them advertising an event, should take three copies to either Bob Fletcher, Beverley near the church, or Meg White at 2 Cathedral Drive.
