The meeting took place at the King's Head on Thursday 3rd June at 20.00hrs with 7 members present.
The salutation was taken and absent names were read, Mr Brian Parker, Mr Bill Truman and Mr George Bandy (Bowls again). Before the meeting got down to business the local bike club gave a talk about the upcoming show at Longham White Horse in aid of the Poppy Appeal on the last weekend in June with plenty of bikers and side shows. They asked if we would like to show the Standards of the Legion that weekend and all members said they would be there with as many standards as possible. So by the time this is printed in July, the Standards will have been out on both the Saturday at Longham and the Veterans Parade through Dereham the next day.
The meeting closed at 20.30hrs and the next meeting will be after the summer on 2nd September at 20.00hrs. This is when the next instalment of the RBL history will commence.
The Last of the Summer Wine group made their way to the bar where I was informed that Bill Truman had sent a message to say BBC TV was finishing the Last of the Summer Wine show and would we be doing the same. Our answer was NO. We had a great disappointment when George Bandy turned down the chance to be Blakey on he buses at the Church Fete. He would have been a great look-alike!
