The Royal British Legion held their bi-monthly meeting at the King's Head on Thursday 4th February at 8pm with nine members present. The salutation was taken and our thoughts were with the servicemen and women fighting for us in Afghanistan. Apologies were given for Brian Parker who is not well; we wish him all the best in the future. Gerald read the minutes and we moved to the little business in hand. The County Conference was held one week late, we did not send anybody due to the change of date and await a report from HQ at Fakenham. Bryan Tidnam and David Green will start the process of looking after the War Graves in the old Church yard once the weather changes for the better. Anybody who would like to see what the Royal British Legion has been up to of late should go to britishlegion.org.uk where you will be able to find out about the activities the legion members get up to. Poppy Appeal has raised £31 million this year and still has a few months to improve on this total. The meeting closed at 9pm and the last of the summer wine group made their way to the bar. Topic of the night was how the landlord always gave us a plate of chips. Also now we have three years to save up for Eva's 90th birthday party. Poor old Gerald will not know what's hit him. We await three years with bated breath! RGC Old Comrade's Evening The last Old Comrade's night went with a swing so we will be repeating it again this year in November, date to be decided. We would like to thank the landlord of the King's Head for the buffet and help with making the evening go so well. |
