Snowball and Sooty

Snowball and Sooty
by Winnie Watt
Sooty was a wee black kitten,
Playful, petted, pert, and fat,
With a special spot for sleeping
Near the fire upon the mat;
Showing signs, I fear, of turning
Such a spoilt and selfish cat!
Can't you understand his feelings
When one day poor Sooty found,
Lying in his favourite corner,
White and silky-soft and round,
Little Snowball, just a stranger,
Quite at home and sleeping sound?
Sooty stretched his claws and woke him
With a sudden angry pat;
Snowball boxed the ears of Sooty
Just to give him tit for tat;
Now they're friends, and Snowball, happy,
Shares his frolics and his mat!
