Rose

Best and dearest flower that grows,

Perfect to both see and smell;

Words can never, never tell

Half the beauty of a Rose-

Buds that open to disclose

Fold on fold of purest white,

Lovely pink, or red that glows

Deep, sweet-scented. What delight

To be a Fairy of the Rose!

Cornflower

'Mid scarlet of poppies and gold of the corn,

In wide-spreading fields were the Cornflowers born;

But now I look rounds me, and what do I see?

There's a beautiful lawn, there are borders and beds,

Where all kinds of flowers raise delicate heads;

For this is a garden, and here, a Boy Blue,

I live and am merry the whole summer through.

My blue is the blue that I always have worn,

And I still remember the poppies and corn.

Daisy

Come to me and play with me,

I'm the babies' flower;

Make a necklace gay with me,

Spend the whole long day with me,

Till the sunset hour.

I must say Good-night, you know,

Till tomorrow's playtime;

Close my petals tight, you know,

Shut the red and white, you know,

Sleeping till the daytime.
