What Next for St Mary's
It was very encouraging that so many people took the trouble to answer the questions, often thoughtfully and in detail, about the church and its activities. There is much information and feedback which we will consider very carefully.
The good news is that the heating is now working, as is the sound system, so we hope you will now find the church warm and be able to hear clearly.
Although there is a moveable ramp, we are aware that this is not ideal for the disabled and our next project will include the provision of permanent ramp beside the steps which will be great improvement.
Many respondents thought that the provision of a toilet and a small kitchenette should be a priority and this also is part of our forward plan which we hope will come to fruition next year. It is heartening to know that we have the support of a large proportion of the village for this venture, a substantial part of which will be paid for by funds raised by the community through the Elmham Festivals.
There was also significant support for the holding of concerts and exhibitions in the church and this is certainly something we hope to build on.
Comments on the form of church services were varied. Currently we offer a wide range of different forms of service and the monthly cycle is advertised in Elmham News, although we do realise that more explanatory information would be helpful and we hope to do this in the future. There is always room for change and we will certainly be taking another look at our pattern of worship.
If you are new to the parish, please introduce yourself before or after the service. We also always welcome new ideas and the response to the questionnaire suggests that there are plenty out there. If you have ideas for different forms of service or activities which the church could organise and with which you would like to be involved, or ways in which we might publicise our work, then do get in touch. The contact details of the rector and church wardens are on the back of Elmham News.
