Memorabilia in School 2011

As part of the August Bank Holiday Weekend and the Festival associated with the Church, the school will once again be the venue for things 'historical'.

There will be photographs from the village, scrapbooks, census returns, all the editions of Elmham News, as well as Baptism, Marriage and Burial records borrowed from the Records Office (from the mid 1800's-1930's).

We will also have two military exhibitions, Watts Naval School and Mid Norfolk Railway will be there and a selection, of a collection, of old typewriters for you to have a go at typing as it used to be.

Please do drop into the school for a look, and a chat. The bonus for us would be if you had anything of local interest that we could have either to keep or copy for our own archives.

CONCERT: The Wensum Camerata

Saturday 27th August 7.30pm

A long established tradition of Elmham's Festival across the Bank Holiday Weekend is the Classical Music Concert on Saturday evening at 7:30pm.

This year, performers come together from far and wide to form the Wensum Camerata. This will be their debut performance at the Festival so come along and hear some well known classical music at its very best. Their exciting and varied programme includes Vivaldi, Vaughan Williams, Dvorak, JS Bach and Lauridsen. It is a truly magical experience amongst the flowers in the historic parish church.

Admission by programme on the door is only £10 which includes a glass of something too.

The Vanishing Tent Trick...

If you blinked you may have missed it, an illusion worthy of David Copperfield - The Great North Elmham Vanishing Tent Trick.

On Saturday and Sunday it was there next to the Church in full view and doing a roaring trade to the general public.

Monday, however was when it happened, given the help of a passing gale, at approximately 7:00am the tent was transformed into a pile of scrap metal and probably ripped canvas - call out the troops rang out, by 8:00am all of the goods now on plain display in the open air were miraculously transported to a new location in the Book tent on the other side of the road and the church site was clear (apart from a pile of twisted metal).

So there you have it, that is what happened, all in a days work really - question is - did you notice?

Flower Festival 2010 Friday

For anyone who thinks it starts tomorrow, some photographs to prove otherwise for many people.

Someone has to do the work so that you can enjoy it, this just gives some of them some recognition.
